Temporarily assuming leadership of the Autobots, Optimus joins Bumblebee and Autobot medic Ratchet to liberate Iacon from the invading Deceptions by reactivating the city’s defenses and communication grid.
Transformers: Fall of CybertronĪutobot campaign Amidst a battle to defend Iacon from Decepticon forces, Autobot soldier Optimus is informed by scout Bumblebee about Zeta Prime’s death. Shocked by Starscream’s betrayal, Jetfire escapes to warn the Autobot leader Zeta Prime. After Megatron immerses himself in it, Starscream, seeking to learn how to handle Dark Energon as well, offers his fealty to Megatron in exchange for teaching him this power. Megatron leads the Decepticons, including Barricade and Brawl, in an assault on the station, where he proceeds to fight his way through Starscream’s guards, ultimately reaching the Dark Energon manufacturing plant. The Decepticon leader Megatron seeks to return the Transformers’ home planet of Cybertron to its “Golden Age” using the legendary Dark Energon, an unstable substance with the power to corrupt life on the planet, which is rumored to be kept on an orbital research station guarded by Sky Commander Starscream and his forces. Robotic in nature, each Transformer has the ability to transform from their robot mode to an alternate form. War for Cybertron is set on the planet Cybertron, prior to the Transformers’ contact with the planet Earth. While the evil Decepticon leader Megatron seeks this substance for himself, believing it will allow him to return the planet to its “golden age”, the Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, attempt to stop him, knowing it would instead doom their homeworld.
The game’s plot revolves around a substance known as Dark Energon, a more dangerous and destructive version of Energon, which powers the Transformers.
